You will need:
A small amount of 3 Ply or 4 Ply yarn in brown, white and red,
A very small amount of yellow for the beaks
Some brightly coloured embroidery cottons for the cockerel's tail and legs
Half a pipe cleaner
Wadding for the bodies
Needle sizes 2.75 and 3mm
Cast on 18 stitches in brown yarn and knit 3 rows.
4th row; knit 2 together, then knit to the end of the row.
Repeat row 4 until there are only 6 stitches left. Cast off
Complete as shown in the diagram, making a crochet chain for the tail feathers. The Cockerel’s tail is larger and more brightly coloured.
Use the half pipe cleaner to make the legs and wrap it around the yarn before stitching it into place.
